The Bureau of International Osteopathic Medicine (BIOM) presented the 18th Annual International Seminar, “Innovation in Osteopathic Education and Outreach,” on Sept. 17 during OMED 2016 in Anaheim, California. The program  focused on the development of global osteopathic medical programs from undergraduate outreach and rotations to residency and beyond. The seminar described how international medical programs are integrating osteopathic medicine and covered safety and best practices for outreach and rotations throughout the globe. Alan Schalscha, DO, provided the keynote address, bringing his vast experience in providing care worldwide to seminar attendees. In addition, BIOM completed a business meeting on Sept. 18 during which a wide range of topics relating to our work were discussed.

The poster exhibits session was open to anyone from the profession. Members of BIOM, SOMA and COSGP judged the student competition. First-place prizes of $750 and second-place prizes of $500 were awarded, as well as a grand prize of $1,500 to the best overall submission. All winners were invited to give a 20-minute presentation during the International Seminar.
